and Excellent Instruction

Former Minnesota Gopher Hockey Coach Doug Woog has assembled an unequaled staff of top players and coaches. Coach Woog sets the curriculum, organizes the ice sessions and takes the ice with the players. Fundamental skills of skating, stickhandling, shooting, passing and receiving are stressed. Nightly fun, high-tempo scrimmages will challenge every camper. Our instructors often take time to scrimmage and play with the campers. Can you imagine converting a Kyle Rau pass, stickhandling around Taylor Matson and Erik Haula, or how about slipping a backhand past Kent Patterson? We believe that Gopher hockey players are some of the best role models and motivators for young players.

 PLAYER STAFF:

BEN MARSHALL Stepping in as a top-four defenseman as a true freshman, Marshall was one of the quickest skaters on the Gophers in 2011-12. The Mahtomedi-native has a tremendous ability to break the puck out of the zone with speed and to elude opposing defenders in rushes up the ice.

KYLE RAU Known for scoring clutch goals in his storied high school career, the 2011 Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award-winner carried his success to over to the college level. Rau showcased his nose for the net by becoming the first Gopher freshman in three years to post more than 10 goals.

ZACH BUDISH The Nashville Predators’ 2009 second-round draft pick returned to action in 2011-12 after missing much of 2010-11 with a knee injury. Playing on the right wing, Budish helped round out Minnesota’s top line with a physical presence to go along with his high-end offensive ability.

TAYLOR MATSON Matson helped lead his team from a No. 19-ranking to No. 1 in his first month as captain of the Gophers. Matson is known for being the hardest-working player on the team and for leading by example even during the toughest of times.
NICK BJUGSTAD Bjugstad came on the scene as one of the top players in the country after playing for the U.S. World Junior team over winter break in his freshman year. The former Florida Panthers first-round pick used his speed, size, and lethal shot to carry over his hot finish as a rookie into his sophomore campaign.

KENT PATTERSON Following an All-WCHA Second Team junior campaign, Patterson emerged as one of the top goaltenders in the NCAA and broke Minnesota’s all-time shutout record as a senior in 2011-12.

ERIC HAULA Coming to the University of Minnesota all the way from Finland, Haula has been centered one of Minnesota’s top two lines in each of his first two years in Maroon and Gold. In October, the Minnesota Wild draftee became the first Gopher to score 17 points in one month since 2002.

MARK ALT One of Minnesota’s most athletic players, has been a top-four defenseman for most of the last two years as a Gopher. The Cretin-Derham Hall graduate has become one of team’s best shut-down defensemen.

RACHEL RAMSEY Played high school hockey at Minnetonka.
RACHAEL BONA Rachael is a highly talented forward from Coon Raipds.
PAUL MARTIN Paul was a second-team All-American for the Gophers in 2002-2003 prior to going on to a great career in the NHL!
GIGI MARVIN The highly talented Warroad native was a Gopher star and Olympian!
